Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)

Name of Examination: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)

Conducted by: Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

Required For: Admission to Postgraduate courses (Masters and Doctoral) in the country, with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/ Assistantships in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science for those who qualify in GATE.

Validity of Score: GATE 2015 score will be for a period of 3 years only. The score is used to take admission to postgraduate programs (M.E/M.Tech/Direct Ph.D) in Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institute of Technology (IIT's at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkie).

Name of Examination: Joint Admission Test (JAM)

Conducted by: The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)

Required for: Admission to Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at IISc Bangalore and M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., M.Sc.-M.S.(Research)/Ph.D. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor's Degree Programmes at IITs.
